Debit Cards: When the amount of the purchase or cash withdrawal is automatically loaded into the bank account associated with the card. This acts against the balance of the bank account. Debit cards tend to be for personal use.

Credit cards: when payments are made against a line of credit that the Financial Institution assigned on an individual basis, taking into account the possibilities and needs of each client. In this case, payments are made independently of the available balance in the bank account associated to the same; in this way the holder you can choose to pay at the end of the month or defer payments. Your credit card may be personal or company and know that any credit card carries discount on your purchases.

Prepaid Cards: These cards, the client performs a load with an amount that is the available balance of the same. Within this group, there are two distinct types of cards:

1. Phone With physical support - Plastic-: The amount pre-loaded can be used later to make purchases and/or obtain cash in offices/Atms. There are two types depending on the technology or media used on the card: Support (Phone Wallet) chip and magnetic stripe.

The Prepaid Cards with Chip tend to be embedded in another modality debit or credit card and its use is for making small payments. Commonly called Monedero Card.
The prepaid cards with magnetic stripe cards are commonly present themselves individually and provide the same benefits as a debit or credit card.

2. Phone without physical support: Are Virtual Cards, in which there is no plastic, but only a card number with an expiration date and a personal secret number (PIN) chosen by the customer. The preloaded Amount is used to make purchases in the shops in commerce (internet).

These cards have two modes:
A) Virtual Cards Identified: Upon request, the holder should be credited with your DNI and facilitate their personal data.
Example of Virtual Card Identified: Virtual Card Yahoo! Identified.

b) Virtual Cards Anonymous: As a matter of identification, the holder only you should indicate your e-mail address (e-mail).

Classification OF CREDIT CARDS ACCORDING TO THE SENDER:

1) Credit cards: Are those issued by a financial institution.

Within the classification Bank Cards and with the same general characteristics, there is a type of phone called co-branded Cards. These cards are issued by a financial institution in collaboration with a commercial partner.

There are two types of Branded: COBRANDED and Affinity or affinity. The difference between the two is given by the existence or non-existence of profit in the trading partner. An example of a co-branded card Cobranded modality is the Visa Repsol card BBVA, the Renfe Visa (with which you have discounts on train journeys and you return a 2.5% of all your purchases) and modality Affinity Visa Card Red Cross BBVA.

In the spanish market there are different brands of cards: Visa, Mastercard, 4B and 6000 Card.

2) Phone. Are those issued by a non-bank private issuer.

Within the phone non-bank we can find two large groups: Phone T&E: Aimed in general to the payment of travel-related activities and entertainment. Some examples are American Express, Diners and JCB. Phone: designed exclusively to payment in the establishments of the issuer of the card.

Bank cards according to the target audience The intended may be:

Personal Cards: Are those that are designed to meet the needs of payments arising from the purchase of goods and services, and private consumption.
The personal cards can be - depending on the mode of payment- credit, debit or pre-payment (virtual or wallet). Or, they can support several of these forms of payment in a same plastic.

Business Cards: Are those intended to cover the costs of procurement, travel and representation of the companies.

The phone company can also be based on the form of payment, Credit or Debit Card, although the most common is the credit card.

Gift Cards
are not credit cards but are now very fashionable now as it is used to buy in internet shops. The most widely used and known is the Amazon Gift Card.
